La Dolce Vita: A Yoga Retreat in Italy
Live the Sweet Life
Join Collette Hill for a full week of Yoga, Meditation, and La Dolce Vita (The Sweet Life) during this holistic wellness immersion under the Tuscan sun. Live the Italian way – slowing down and connecting with yourself, communing with nature, and savoring lovingly-prepared meals sourced from local farms and served family style.
7 days of yoga, meditation, countryside exploring, horseback riding, kayaking, cooking classes, wine tasting, and more (May 22 – 29, 2019)
Stay in a picturesque, farmhouse cottage in the Tuscan countryside
Only a 10 minute walk from the Mediterranean Sea and a short drive or train ride to Florence and Rome
Enjoy locally-sourced meals from neighboring farms, including some of the best loved traditional Italian dishes
We will be staying at Tenuta San Carlo, an organic rice farm which lies within the Maremma Natural Park, a protected area of ecological, historical and cultural significance.
What to Expect
Mornings: Vinyasa flow class followed by a guided meditation to set focus for the day ahead. The morning class will be followed by a healthy breakfast made from ingredients sourced from nearby farms.
Afternoons: Explore as you choose: take a 10 minute walk to the Mediterranean seaside, rent a car or take the train to nearby Rome or Florence, enjoy one of the additional excursions provided by our hosts (horseback riding, kayaking, cooking classes, wine tasting and more!) or simply enjoy exploring the farm, picking vegetables or feeding the animals. Lunch will be served buffet-style for those who choose to stay onsite.
Evenings: Yin + Restore practice to ready the body and mind for total relaxation before joining together to share about our day over a late dinner (and maybe some vino!) Finally, turn in at night to your farmhouse apartment (3 to 4 people per apartment) which include amenities (bathroom, kitchenette, linens, internet).
The Location: Tenuta San Carlo is located near Grosseto– a beautiful city nearly on the edge of the Tuscan region. Grosseto is known as the political and cultural center of the Maremma – Tuscany’s wilder, coastal territory, often overlooked by tourists. It’s an ideal base for exploring the surrounding hilltops and sea sections. The historic center is dense, closed off by a beautifully preserved, circular medieval wall.
Love: Collette is so excited to share with you her deep love for Italian culture (in fact, she studied Italian culture and language in college). She is thrilled to partner with an amazing, female-run farm right in the heart of one of the most beautiful regions of the world – owned and operated by her dear friend, Ariane Lotti. Andiamo!
What Others Are Saying
Collette was a wonderful instructor during our 2017 7-day yoga retreat. She did a wonderful job tracking the needs of the group and delivering classes that responded to the energy of the day and the condition of our bodies. The classes were fun, challenging, relaxing and rewarding all at the same time. Collette will make you feel at home and help you achieve your goals emotionally and physically. The retreats are an amazing way to connect with others, focus on you and have a great time!
Collette's retreat was a moving and life-changing experience. Her teaching style is relaxed and pushes you outside of your limits both physically and spiritually. The group was supportive and encouraging and I left feeling confident, refreshed, and excited to take that new energy back into my daily routine.
Collette is helping me transform my yoga practice through our private lessons. 15 years into yoga, I still have a lot to learn, and I figured the person who teaches teachers is probably a good place to start. I have learned so much and am constantly amazed at the things I now know and can do. This is such a helpful addition to a regular classroom-based practice. Collette is a very thoughtful teacher and her Masters in Education probably doesn't hurt.
My favorite part of Collette’s classes are the tiny gems she leaves you with before ending each class. Typically a simple sentence or two, but so meaningful and so impacting that they speak to you in a way that perfectly closes out the best hour of your day.
After three years of classes and workshops, I met with Collette for a series of one-to-one sessions with the goal of fine-tuning my alignment and setting up a home practice. We talked through my goals, and she came fully prepared with suggestions and techniques for each session. She brought my practice the a whole different level — and we also had fun!
We think Collette is a wonderful Yoga instructor and a great person. We feel energized, uplifted and relaxed at the end of our sessions. Collette tailors her Yoga sessions to the people she’s working with; she varies our lessons to what we can do and what’s best for us. She is always upbeat, on time and professional. She’s a happy person and a joy to be around!
