Greek Isles & Volunteer with Refugees

About the Adventure

Greece is one of Europe's most struggling economies, and it's in Chios (the 5th largest island of ~2,000 Greek isles), where many migrants are finding refuge as they leave places like Syria & Turkey to find a better life. The crystal waters, sandy beaches, and stunning views may be great for tourism on some Greek Islands, but that's only scratching the surface of Greece. Each year, hundreds of thousands walk, swim, and hitch their way out of the destruction and horrors of Syria's civil war. Many of these refugees have made their way to Chios as an entry point into Greece, and we've been inspired to help.  The highlights of this trip include:
  • Volunteering in a Greek school system for children (ages 3 - 12), including Syrian and Turkish refugees

  • Observing the impact of a civil war and a geo-political crisis

  • Supporting the humanitarian efforts of a country in economic crisis

  • Accessibility to stunning beaches and sites of historical significance throughout the Greek Isles

Oct 27 - Nov 2, 2019

Rad's sister, Shadia Faye Wood, founded and manages Project Survival Media - an organization connecting the arts to impactful purpose. Shadia's a GlobeKicker and she Kickstarted an effort to fund and build a training program for Syrian Refugee children living in camps in Lebanon. Her efforts have inspired us to act.
